The Bretheren of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge No. 1318 held their Fall Festive Board in October with an guest visiting from Italy. Delicious food catered by Celebration. Traditional toasts and fellowship were enjoyed by all.

In Freemasonry, the Festive Board is a formal, highly structured dinner held after a Lodge meeting, blending centuries-old traditions, ritualized toasts, and fraternal camaraderie. While the formal rituals and degree work take place inside the strictly private Lodge room, the Festive Board represents the “refreshment” aspect of the evening where members strengthen bonds over a shared multi-course meal, speeches, and good humor.

The primary goal of the Festive Board is to cultivate fellowship and hospitality. Historically dating back to the 1717 establishment of the Mother Grand Lodge in London—when early speculative Masons frequently met in taverns—the meal acts as a deliberate transition from formal labor to relaxed brotherhood. It is structured so that Masons of all ages, walks of life, and social standings can interact on completely equal ground.
