FROM THE EAST - NOVEMBER
I wish to thank those of you who attended our initial Stated Meeting at Love Field in October. It was perhaps a bit awkward and somewhat unsettling to be in a new location but that was to be expected. I am sure there were similar feelings at the first Stated Meeting held in the McKinney Building. For those of you who could not attend perhaps you would have been entertained as we fumbled with unfamiliar surroundings. From different light switches to unfamiliar cookware to locks that did not want to initially cooperate, there were a few glitches along the way but we worked through them to the best of our abilities. But I have no doubt that things will run smooth as clockwork as we become more settled at Love Field.
I am grateful to everyone who pitched in over the past months, whether it was helping with the paperwork on the sale of the building or those who helped with the laborious tasks of moving. I would also hope everyone would realize how gracious and welcoming the officers and members of Love Field Lodge have been towards Hillcrest.
The lengthy process of selling the McKinney building and our subsequent efforts to relocate has taken its toll on many people I believe. It has been an extremely long and arduous process. It is also ongoing as we are continuing to evaluate our situation to determine what path we take for the long term. However, I would certainly like to see as many members as possible make an effort to join us as we get back to a regular schedule. We will continue to meet on Tuesdays for our work and of course, our new Stated Meeting night is now second Thursday of the month.
Now that the dust has settled somewhat, if only temporarily, I would like to return the focus to our Lodge, our members and our Masonic duties. In the coming months we will be honoring Hillcrest members who have reached special milestones with Service Awards as well as special recognition for Past Masters. We are also heading into the holiday season and we will be looking to have our traditional seasonal social function as well as maintaining our charitable activities.
I would also again challenge us all to give special attention to the sick or disabled among our members and their families. These are very difficult times. There seem to be so many among us that are battling illness or have fallen into difficult situations. I would also ask for each of us to give special attention to our Masonic Widows. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. If you know of anyone who has fallen ill or is need of help please let us know.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Gregg Yates
